Biography

Ellen Ueberschär grew up in the Eastern part of Berlin. After being trained as an IT-expert, Ueberschär studied Protestant Theology in Berlin and in Heidelberg. She did her dissertation on contemporary history of the Church at the University of Marburg / Germany. Ueberschär is minister of the United Church of Berlin- Brandenburg and has been working as General Secretary for the German Protestant Convention (Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentag) since 2006. She is responsible for the organization of this convention which takes place every second year, at which 130,000 attendants discuss issues of public relevance.
